In dieser Serie greife ich Walter Benjamins Konzept der Aura auf — die Vorstellung, dass die Einzigartigkeit eines Kunstwerks im Zeitalter seiner Reproduktion verloren geht.
Ikonische Porträts der Kunstgeschichte werden digital verwandelt und bis an die Schwelle zwischen Erkennbarkeit und Auflösung geführt.
Mich interessiert der Moment der Unschärfe, in dem das Original zu verschwinden beginnt — und gleichzeitig durch unsere Erinnerung daran ein neues Bild entsteht.

Transformation

In this series, I take up Walter Benjamin's concept of the aura—the idea that the uniqueness of a work of art is lost in the age of its reproduction.

Iconic portraits from art history are digitally transformed and pushed to the threshold between recognizability and dissolution.

I am interested in the moment of blurring when the original begins to disappear—and at the same time, a new image emerges through our memory of it.
